This article in the Education Week  illustrates how events in Jena, Louisiana are sparking serious discussion across the nation.   Beverly Daniel Tatum, president of Spelman College,  puts the matter succinctly: “It seems to me that school leaders in Jena lost several opportunities to address these incidents before things became physically violent.”
